A Comparative Cultural Canon Translation Project

Turkey and the United States (1826-1980)

This long-term initiative develops a comparative intellectual canon between Turkey and the United States by translating and contextualizing literary, philosophical, and cultural texts from both traditions. The project explores how each society negotiated questions of modernity, reform, identity, gender, and spirituality during moments of national transformation.

Exploring Makam Music and Mystical Traditions in Comparative Perspective

An international research initiative exploring makam music as a spiritual, emotional, and therapeutic modality across diverse mystical traditions. This interdisciplinary project investigates how modal music operates within devotional soundscapes and continues to shape experiences of inner transformation, from Ottoman healing practices to contemporary therapeutic applications.
